I have always loved black and white photography, even before I took up the hobby and the camera myself.  I feel it eliminates the distraction of colour, leaving with more of the moment and emotion.

Above, while not technically great, one of my favourite pictures taken of my youngest daughter, Jess.

    1. Thank you. Mr. Snail was released back into the wild after I have taken the picture. She had a habit of squashing them back then. Not out of spite, out of over enthusiasm.

    1. Thank you. My middle daughter has been after African Land Snails for ages. We had a deal she could have some when she manages to keep her room tidy. So that will be never then.

  10. Yes I totally agree with you on the lack of distraction thing. Also I think black and white photos can have bags of personality because they have to work that little bit harder to grab your attention.
This is a cracking shot ;-)

    1. Thank you. I don't think I have truly grown up as I am still in awe at the wonderful tiny things our world can offer us. I guess looking through a camera lens gives you a whole different outlook on what you see around you.

  14. Wowzers, this is so, so special! I love how her finger is touching the snail's head; which is tilted up as if equally fascinated with her, as she is with it! I also love the way the grains in the wood are given so much textural depth in black and white too. A wonderful photograph indeed.
